Comparison: A hidden trap in the motherhood
"Comparison is the thief of joy" - Theodore Roosevelt
Comparison is everywhere around you, but in motherhood, it always seems to be around.
We may compare our children, parenting styles, husbands & most of the times, we compare ourselves to other moms in some ways.
Comparison becomes really toxic, when it comes to motherhood.
Society comparison: After delivery, the new moms are automatically been compared to to the previous moms, in terms of delivery, milk flow, postpartum body, how well taking care of baby& so many. The saddest is, they never leave the newborn babies also, regarding weight, color, behaviour& milestones. I really dont know, the benefit of comparison here. It just makes the mother sad, frustrated & less confident.( already they are going through postpartum)
Self Comparison: Being Women & Mom, it is a human nature to compare ourselves with other moms. But please understand, You’re you. You have your own unique set of circumstances, experience, knowledge and ideals which make you the mother you are today. You have different priorities, different support systems and different to-do lists. You’re not them, and they’re not you. You might be staring at them wishing you could be more like them, while they stare back thinking the same thing about you. The end point is, no matter what, you are the perfect mom for your child.
It’s ok to be inspired by other moms, that’s different from comparison. You can just look at other moms & think, wow,how well she talks with her child.Dont miss your simple joys by being negative or affected by what people blabber around you.
You can definitely try below tips to escape from this trap
